La Letra H

Everyone knows I'm not a fan of the forward but Jen's my one of my best friends and she's never steered me wrong with forwards so here I am. She has so kindly given me the letter H. Unfortunately, the letter S was already given out so no Spurs for me (thanks Bonnie) and she took the letter M (so no Manu either). But the way I see it y'all already know I love all that so...H is a change of pace.

Here are 10 things I love that begin with the letter H.

Horacio: My cute and most adorable great nephew and godson. He's such a good baby.

Harry Potter: What can I say about this boy wizard? He took up many years worth of sleep and will continue to do so. I have to read his books every few years.

Hallmark movies/commercials: Boo hoo...meaningful movies and commercials that are worthy of my tears.

Heroes: I love this superhero show. I've watched it since day 1.

Huevos Rancheros: Ha ha, it pays to be bilingual. I love the eggs with their yummy, runny salsa.

History: I love to teach about it, read about it, watch it in movies, and talk about it. I'm not always 100% accurate but I'm pretty good with information.

How I Met Your Mother: OMG!!! This show is hilarious. Neil Patrick Harris is a scene stealer.

Head Over Feet: The song by Alanis Morissette. It's been my absolute favorite song for about 14 years. That's almost half my life. And now I finally have someone in mind when I hear it...This version is awesome!!!

Hope Floats: I love this movie because sometimes in order to find your inner strength you have to through some real challenging experiences. Or how I'd like to say it...you have to go through crap to get to the really good stuff.

Hand-made crafts: I love to make and give hand-made gifts. I make my own jewelry, cards, and invitations. Some of them have actually come out nice.

In Love

Simple question (or not)...Why does love have to be so hard sometimes?

I watched the movie Seven Pounds yesterday and today I'm watching the Hallmark movie. Needless to say it's put me in a very reflective mood. I'd appreciate all input.

Thank You All So Much

So this is my first post since turning 30. I have to admit that it wasn't as bad as I expected. I think that has something to do with how great people were. I had an awesome time at my party. Many friends and family came and I am glad I was able to share the day with them.

My weekend of partying started on Friday. My co-teacher had a great celebration planned for me. She left a note for an all out announcement over the school's PA system. I was horrified when everyone heard I was turning 30. Then she brought cupcakes for the whole class. She also managed to have my class make cards. Below are some of their cards. Lastly, a student and his mother from two years ago brought in home baked cupcakes for my class. She makes the best yellow cake and chocolate frosting cupcakes.

Saturday was a very busy day. Not only did I have party stuff to take care of but I also had my great friend, Edie, here and got to spend time with her. She drove in from San Antonio. A best friend indeed. There was a lot of food, talking and music at my party and I think people had fun.

Edie and I

Jen, Bonnie, and I

Horacio and Michael wearing a vest for me.

Apparently this is what my 4 year old niece, Veronica, thinks I look like.

These are a few of the cards my kids made me. My three loves: Little Miss Sunshine, San Antonio Spurs and bees.

Day 2 of being 30 is going great.

DAMN!!!

So I just caught up on my BIGGEST guily pleasure - Celebrity Gossip on PerezHilton.com and I saw an interview Extra did with Taylor Lautner. He's the guy that will be playing Jacob Black in the New Moon movie. And I know he's a bit, you know, young. Buy y'all have to check him out. Needless to say he's been working out.

So Silly, I Know

I know it's stupid but I hate that I'm turning 30. This week is my last week of being in my 20's.

Movies I Love

I love movies. I love to go to the movies. I love to watch movies at home. And my weakness is buying movies, even if I haven't watched them. Here is a list of movies I love for no particular reason. They have no message or meaning and some are just plain silly. They're random movies that I'll watch everytime they are on tv.
  1. Zoolander
  2. Beauty Shop
  3. Coyote Ugly
  4. Adventures in Babysitting
  5. The Fast and the Furious
  6. Napoleon Dynamite
  7. Fever Pitch
  8. Dazed and Confused
  9. A Knight's Tale
  10. Save the Last Dance
This list could go on for a while, and I may add to it as I remember more movies.

Little Miss Sunshine

Again. My class knows that the top two loves of mine are the Spurs and Little Miss Sunshine. Today my student D came into the class. She waited until I walked over to her area. Then she says: "Miss G. I went to Target and bought a present for you." I love presents so I was thrilled to see what it was. She goes on to pull out a cute, retro looking Little Miss Sunshine bag. Even though I didn't mention it I actually already bought the bag myself so I kept the one she got me at school. I love that my class thinks of me when they are out and about. They're a cute bunch.

Later in the day another student, J, made me a card on yellow construction paper and with Little Miss Sunshine on it. Then later, D made me a similar card. She drew Little Miss Sunshine and wrote a very sweet and cute note. Then on the back it said:

Ms. G....
+
D.....
Friends Forever

This cracked up Jen and I so much. D also said: "I know why you love Little Miss Sunshine. It's because you're like her. You're both...(at this point I'm praying she's not going to say because we're both round)...your smiles are the same. And your cheeks. You have the same cheeks". (Hmmm....Little Miss Sunshine has dark spots on her cheeks. Either I need to get new make-up or my face is always dirty.)

In the end I understood what she meant which is exactly why I love Little Miss Sunshine. She totally brightens up everyone's day.

Amazing

MANU GINOBILI!!!!!!

He did it again. Manu steals the game. With only minutes left in the game against Miami Manu blocked Dwayne Wade's shot. Let me tell you that they replayed that play over, and over, and over. I must say that I never get tired of watching Manu. I'll look up the block on YouTube tomorrow and see if I can post it. It was AMAZING!

Update: I found it...Manu is amazing

Wii Tournament

My nephews got a Wii sometime last year. I have to say that I'm not that great at it. I may LOVE sports but I'm not great at sports. Today we had a tennis tournament. I lost my first game to Vanessa. I won my second game against Matthew (who is seven). And then lost the third game to my brother. Even though I sucked at tennis I had a great time. This is why I love to hang out with my family. We're silly but fun.

2008...The Best.Year.EVER!!!

Note: I started this post on New Year's Eve but haven't gotten around to finishing it until today. Super sorry!

As I mentioned in my previous post 2008 has been my best year ever. I have so much to be thankful for. So many amazing things happened in both my professional and personal lives. Here are some random but meaningful things that I'm grateful for in 2008.

  • A whole year with Horacio - My baby and godson is so handsome and awesome. I'm a better person because of him.
  • Best class ever...2B - I truly have a great class. They are brilliant, kind, attentive, and amazing. I'm so sad to only have them for 4 more months.
  • New friends in the blogging world and online - NaBloPoMo 2008 introduced me to many new friends. I've also made some great friends online. And I've met some awesome people through current friends and family.
  • Carpooling with Jen - Jen and I have been carpooling since September. I enjoy our drives to work and home. If either one of us has to miss my day just doesn't go the same.
  • Co-teaching - I am having the best experience sharing my classroom with another teacher. I have become a better teacher because of the opportunity.
  • The Summer Olympics and Argentinean Basketball - It was exciting to see Michael Phelps win all his metals. Also, Manu played for Argentina. Let's just say that even though I had to wake up at strange hours to watch them play it was worth it. Manu ended up getting hurt but I have to support my man's decision to play for his country.
  • Love - The potential for love made 2008 a great year.
  • Twilight Saga - I fell in love with Edward. It was a great read and I got many of my peeps to read it too.
  • The Sex and the City movie - What can I say? The movie was as great as the series.
  • Shopping Spree - I don't like to shop for myself often but when Avenue opened in town I went crazy. Now I feel great in some awesome clothes.
  • New found hobbies - I bought a Cricut machine and now I found a new love for card and invitation making.
So there you have a few reasons why I will miss 2008. I hope this means 2009 will be even better.
