Today I got my butt out of bed and headed to defensive driving at a local restaurant. I wasn't at all looking forward to going. However, when I got there things took a turn for the better. Our presenter was funny and charming. The other people in the class also made it fun. And it didn't hurt that food was included. Over all I had a pleasant experience. I still wouldn't want to take it again.

Laugh Out Loud
Yesterday I was checking my email yesterday afternoon. I opened an email from a student I had two years ago. He moved to Mexico because his dad was relocated. It made me laugh out loud. My class looked at me with curious eyes. Before I tell you what it said I have to mention that we share a love for sports and the Spurs. Ok so here is his email.
It cracked me up that he cut it short because he was in computer class. How cute is that?

First Week of School
So this week was our first week back teaching kids. I must say that I have been lucky 3 years in a row as far as kids go. My class is so well behaved. I have a couple of chatty ones, but nothing major. I have to remember that this is only week one so there's a chance things might change. But I run a pretty tight ship so I think they'll stay the same.
Another change this year is the addition of the inclusion teacher. She comes in twice a day for an hour each time. She works with all my kids. We are getting along wonderfully. We have similar classroom management. When we planned yesterday she had great ideas. I'm also so glad to have her work with me because she's opened my eyes to new theories and responses. And to think it's only been one week and I've learned so much.
This year I've also decided to get more involved. I'm on the PTA board and various school committees. I like to keep busy. So here's to another great year!

Keep Taking Hit After Hit
So today I found out that Twilight Saga author, Stephanie Meyer, will not be releasing Midnight Sun. This is a book she was writing from Edward, the vampire's, point of view. Those of us that have joined the world of Twilight have come to love the characters. Even though I know what happens in Twilight I wanted to read it from Edward's perspective instead of Bella. I have to say that this was my favorite book of the series. I know you may be thinking that this is such a petty thing to be sad about but when you're already feeling sad it just makes it feel worse. At least Meyer has posted the draft she wrote on her website. It's unfinished and full of flaws, as she says, but I'm eager to read it. The weird thing is that I was just on her site yesterday so she must have added this later. As it turns out someone put her draft on the internet and now she doesn't want to finish it. I can understand and I admire her because I know she truly loves her characters and isn't in it for the money. So another saddening event to add to my life.

Yay! Argentina Wins the Bronze Metal! Boo Hoo the Spurs are not too Happy
Just like their first game, Argentina ended up playing Lithuania. This time however, they won. If Argentina had won that first game they would have been first in group A and then played China. I'm almost positive they then would have beat Spain and gone on to play the USA for the gold medal. However I must say that I am still very proud of my man and his team. Unfortunately, Manu was not able to play in the bronze medal game. I didn't watch the game but it would have made me sad not to see Manu play. Again, I'm afraid for him and the upcoming Spurs season. This article made me teary-eyed.
I love you, Manu. Get better soon.

Argentina Plays For Bronze
Sadly my Argentinean team lost to team USA. This means that they will not get the gold metal. But on the up side, they only lost by 20. Which brings me to my next dilemma, Manu got hurt again. I'm sure every San Antonio Spurs fan gasped at the news. So, a team that usually wins by 40 plus points only wins by 20 against a team who didn't have their best player. Hmmm, sounds interesting to me. Maybe those NBA players all conspired to target Manu knowing they're winning this year. So I pray that Manu gets healthy again and helps lead the Spurs to their fifth championship. It is an odd year after all.

Twilight Release Date Moved Up
All my buddies know how upset I was to hear that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is now being released in July of 2009. However, due to that change the release of the Twilight Movie has been moved up to Harry's original date. So now we only have to wait till November 21st to see Twilight. What's that saying? When someone closes a door on you, God opens a window? Ok so it's not a God situation, but I'm so happy to get these news. Yay!
Argentina Wins Again!!!
Manu leads his team with 32 points to beat Iran. My brother has to throw in his two cents by noting that Iran sucks, but still Manu did great. I didn't get to watch the game this time because I was with my sister at the Office Depot teacher appreciation breaksfasts. Yes two breakfasts. We hit one place then drove to another. I've got to say I enjoyed it. Free breakfast and free stuff. So I await tomorrow's game and I for sure will be watching Manu. Oh and check this out to see who the leading scorer of the Olympics is.

Officially Legal
Today is my niece's boyfriend's birthday. He is 18 and now a grown up. Like I've mentioned before he's sort of like a little brother to me. So Happy Birthday, Cruz!

Opps, I Forgot
I finally finished Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Saga. The final book was Breaking Dawn. Although it was not what I expected I am happy with the ending. I am still so glad that I read the article in Entertainment Weekly that got me hooked on these books. And on December 30th, Meyer will release The Official Twilight Saga Guide. I'm very pleased with Meyer's website because she has extras on each book that answers many questions. So again I highly recommend this series to everyone.
Argentina Wins!
Manu and the Argentinean team beat Australia today. My honey scored 21 points. This time I didn't get to watch the game. Sadly, I stayed informed about the score will watching the bottom line on ESPN and ESPN2. I had to wait for the score to scroll around every once in a while. But in the end I would do anything for Manu.

Aw Man!
Argentina loses to Lithuania in their first Olympic game. I must say that I am sad. I also don't think that Manu is 100% after his injury. I can only hope that he does well during the Olympics but does not hurt himself further. It was an exciting game as well as a frustrating game. So many turnovers. But hey, even at less than 100%, Manu is the leading scorer of the night.
Oh and in case anyone was wondering, the Spurs open the regular season on October 29th against the Suns. Interesting!

My New Record Time
Hello everyone. I have managed to read book 2 and 3 of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Saga. I am so pleased with the stories. Book 2 was a bit rough but still worth the tears. Book 4 came out today at midnight. I preordered my copy and expected it to come today, however it didn't. I'm quite upset about this because when I ordered the 7th Harry Potter book it came on the day it was released. Nonetheless, I will be ready to receive it and look forward to diving right into it. I hope more of you join in on the fun before the movie comes out.
