Movies You Forget About Until...

I'm up pretty late because I was waiting to talk to Matt. I love to see what movies come on late night. Tonight it's Sister Act. What a great movie!!!! When I hear some of the songs play at church it always brings me back to this movie. What a classic. Hmmm...sadly, I don't own this movie.

Two Birds, One Stone

I was reading Amy's blog today and wanted to chime in on her two posts today. The first was her Musical Monday feature. The other was about her top 5 celebrity crushes. I explained on my comment to Amy that I sort of cheat and categorize my crushes. Like that I get to share more of them.

First
I went to high school between the years 1994 - 1997. I had a very difficult time narrowing my favorite so instead I found this handy MTV site where you can look at all the songs of particular years.

Second
I have several celebrity crushes. And by several I'm making an understatement. It's a plethora of celebrity crushes. I guess I better get started. Lots of crushes to share. Sorry, I probably won't be able to post pictures of all my crushes. I will link to any previous posts if I've written them. (Which I have : ) ) Oh and sometimes I don't always find the celebrity sexy except in certain movies.

• Athletes: Yummy, yummy, muscles (perhaps y'all don't call athletes celebrities but to a huge sports fan, they are)
  
• Hot Black Crushes
• Muscians: Flo Rida, Robert Pattinson (yes he's a musician), Elvis, hmmm, I know there's more...
  
• Actors: Zach Braff, Neil Patrick Harris (yes, I realize he bats for the other team), Matt Damon in anything, Djimon Hounsou in Beauty Shop, Orlando Bloom in LOTR, Leonardo DiCapri in The Departed, and Gerard Butler in 300.
  
• Actresses: (I believe in equal opportunities) Selma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson, Megan Fox, Alicia Keys, and Eva Longoria-Parker (just because she's married to Tony Parker).

YAY!!! It's finally less than 100 days till the new Harry Potter movie! WOO HOO! 99 days and counting...

Next Sex and the City movie comes out May 28, 2010! I'm just waiting for the widget so I can put it up on my blog.

Slumdog Millionaire

I finally made it to watch Slumdog Millionaire. I have to say that this was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. I've wanted to watch this movie for a couple of months so to finally get the chance was really great.

Before getting into more detail about what the movie meant to me I have to share a little background about me. I am fascinated with India. I think my fascination started when I was in elementary school. My brother and I had a game called Hotels. You try to make a bunch of money and buy hotels. I always bought the Taj Mahal Hotel. At the time I didn't realize that it was an actual place in a different country. I simply thought it was pretty.



As I grew up I found out it was a mausoleum in India. And to my amazement you could actually visit it. Since then I've wanted to got to India and see the Taj Mahal in person. And hence my fascination with India began. I also think there is something so beautiful about Indian women. I love the colors they wear. Hopefully one day I will make it there.

Back to the movie. It didn't glamourized India. It had violence. But it was also a love story. An amazing love story. And the love part aside it was action packed and meaningful. I don't want to give away the ending for those of you that will watch it but it made me ponder this:

Do you believe that there is one person out there for each of us? And do you really believe that you can love someone since you were a child?

So watch Slumdog Millionaire. It really was worth the Academy Award it won.

DAMN!!!

So I just caught up on my BIGGEST guily pleasure - Celebrity Gossip on PerezHilton.com and I saw an interview Extra did with Taylor Lautner. He's the guy that will be playing Jacob Black in the New Moon movie. And I know he's a bit, you know, young. Buy y'all have to check him out. Needless to say he's been working out.

Movies I Love

I love movies. I love to go to the movies. I love to watch movies at home. And my weakness is buying movies, even if I haven't watched them. Here is a list of movies I love for no particular reason. They have no message or meaning and some are just plain silly. They're random movies that I'll watch everytime they are on tv.

2008...The Best.Year.EVER!!!

Note: I started this post on New Year's Eve but haven't gotten around to finishing it until today. Super sorry!

As I mentioned in my previous post 2008 has been my best year ever. I have so much to be thankful for. So many amazing things happened in both my professional and personal lives. Here are some random but meaningful things that I'm grateful for in 2008.

• A whole year with Horacio - My baby and godson is so handsome and awesome. I'm a better person because of him.
• Best class ever...2B - I truly have a great class. They are brilliant, kind, attentive, and amazing. I'm so sad to only have them for 4 more months.
  
• New friends in the blogging world and online - NaBloPoMo 2008 introduced me to many new friends. I've also made some great friends online. And I've met some awesome people through current friends and family.
  
• Carpooling with Jen - Jen and I have been carpooling since September. I enjoy our drives to work and home. If either one of us has to miss my day just doesn't go the same.
  
• Co-teaching - I am having the best experience sharing my classroom with another teacher. I have become a better teacher because of the opportunity.
  
• The Summer Olympics and Argentinean Basketball - It was exciting to see Michael Phelps win all his metals. Also, Manu played for Argentina. Let's just say that even though I had to wake up at strange hours to watch them play it was worth it. Manu ended up getting hurt but I have to support my man's decision to play for his country.
  
• Love - The potential for love made 2008 a great year.
  
• Twilight Saga - I fell in love with Edward. It was a great read and I got many of my peeps to read it too.
  
• The Sex and the City movie - What can I say? The movie was as great as the series.
  
• Shopping Spree - I don't like to shop for myself often but when Avenue opened in town I went crazy. Now I feel great in some awesome clothes.
  
• New found hobbies - I bought a Cricut machine and now I found a new love for card and invitation making.
  

So there you have a few reasons why I will miss 2008. I hope this means 2009 will be even better.

Go Ahead

Yay!!! New Moon will be made into a movie. I can't wait...

Loved It!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I loved Twilight. Of course the book is better but I very much enjoyed the movie. And to tell you the truth I usually like the books better than most movies. So I highly recommend that all of you go out and watch Twilight.

Venti Coffee from Starbucks

I am sooo ready for the midnight showing of Twilight today. After our long day (Jen and I had to go to an extra Aspiring Assistant Principals' Academy meeting) Jen ran me by Starbucks for a Venti coffee. I figured I needed all the caffeine I could get my hands on. I don't want to fall asleep or get tired at all. So I'll tell y'all all about it tomorrow.

I'm In

My niece did in fact secure Twilight movie tickets for us for the midnight showing. I'm so excited. And I've been planning my day off in honor of my love, Edward the vampire, so I won't have to go to work on Friday. I do have a long day tomorrow but I've been waiting for this day for a long time so I know I'll manage to make it.

35 minutes left

Today I had dinner and coffee with Jen. She reminded me a few times not to forget to write my post today. I now have exactly 30 minutes. I'll keep this short because I am so tired.

Random thoughts of the week:

• I've gotten about halfway through making my birthday invitations.
  
• Twilight comes out in less than a week.
• The Spurs are sort of back on track.
• So sad my high school football team lost yesterday.
• Fuddruckers' fries and cheese sauce are the best.
• I miss San Antonio.
• I think I really am a great teacher.
• Sometimes putting all your eggs in one basket pays off.
• Cupcakes rule!
• Tony Romo is back this week.
  
• I can't wait until next week (wink, wink sweetie)
  

The Secret Life of Bees

As promised I wanted to tell y'all about the movie. I love going to the movies. I enjoy all sorts of movies. Today I went to watch The Secret Life of Bees. I do enjoy the occasional chick flick as long as it's not too sappy. But I most enjoy chick flicks with a message. Today's movie touched my heart. I can't say often that I see a movie that knocks the wind out of you, but this was definitely one. In ways that I can not really voice I connected with this movie. And the message I got from the movie was to live life to the fullest. Never let past experiences, pride, or fear get in the way of life and love. I have to say that for many reasons I related to many characters. So I strongly suggest that all of you go see this movie. But don't forget to bring your kleenex. I'm so glad I passed on mascara today.

Off to the movies

I'm off to the movies. (Not alone this time...that's still on my to do list) I'll let y'all know how the movie went later. I'm going to watch The Secret Life of Bees.

Romance

At this moment I am watching the movie Hope Floats. And it made me wonder...do women really want romance? I know that many "chick flicks" are written or directed by women for the purpose of making money off of women. But Hope Floats is not only romantic but it teaches a powerful lesson. Sandra Bullock's character (Oh and I've been to her restaurant in Austin, good but pricey. I'll save my stand on expensive things for another time.) gets cheated on by her husband. Although not everyone has experienced this kind of betrayal I'm sure we've experienced it in some way. It takes Bullock's character almost the entire movie to realize that her fear of losing her husband made her change who she was. She was a strong, opinionated, and captivating person but somewhere along the way she became whatever she thought her husband wanted. She became complacent, clingy, and a push over. She is sad and broken and it takes Harry Connick Jr.'s character to have her believe in herself. I'm not a big fan of the man (or woman) that saves the day, but I do believe that sometimes it takes another person to mend us. I think this person can be a family member or a really great friend, or every once in a while it is a romantic companion.
I have to admit that I'm the kind of girl that likes a sweet man. I do want a guy that can be romantic but not to the point that he would be considered more girlie than me. I guess that's the girlie girl tomboy in me. I LOVE tomboy things like watching sports, eating pizza and chicken wings, going to movies with violence (hello 300 and Sin City), to girlie stuff like watching romantic movies in bed and baking. I love romance. But it's not what you can give me that shows romance. It's what you say and do. I've talked to many a women who agree. What's the saying? Flowers say I'm sorry, chocolate says I love you. I rather hear the words I'm sorry or I love you. But...every one in a while some flowers wouldn't hurt. So all you fellas out there...send your wife or girlfriends some flowers to work. Not for their birthday or Valentine's. Send them just because.

It's the holiday season and it usually puts people in a really good mood.
