Defensive Driving

Today I got my butt out of bed and headed to defensive driving at a local restaurant. I wasn't at all looking forward to going. However, when I got there things took a turn for the better. Our presenter was funny and charming. The other people in the class also made it fun. And it didn't hurt that food was included. Over all I had a pleasant experience. I still wouldn't want to take it again.

Laugh Out Loud

Yesterday I was checking my email yesterday afternoon. I opened an email from a student I had two years ago. He moved to Mexico because his dad was relocated. It made me laugh out loud. My class looked at me with curious eyes. Before I tell you what it said I have to mention that we share a love for sports and the Spurs. Ok so here is his email.

hi how are you doing. Im doing fine how about yourself. I have also been watching
the olympics especially Michael Phelps. also Ginobili. Ihave to go because im in computer class.bye

It cracked me up that he cut it short because he was in computer class. How cute is that?

Manu needs surgery. Boo hoo.

First Week of School

So this week was our first week back teaching kids. I must say that I have been lucky 3 years in a row as far as kids go. My class is so well behaved. I have a couple of chatty ones, but nothing major. I have to remember that this is only week one so there's a chance things might change. But I run a pretty tight ship so I think they'll stay the same.
Another change this year is the addition of the inclusion teacher. She comes in twice a day for an hour each time. She works with all my kids. We are getting along wonderfully. We have similar classroom management. When we planned yesterday she had great ideas. I'm also so glad to have her work with me because she's opened my eyes to new theories and responses. And to think it's only been one week and I've learned so much.
This year I've also decided to get more involved. I'm on the PTA board and various school committees. I like to keep busy. So here's to another great year!

Keep Taking Hit After Hit

So today I found out that Twilight Saga author, Stephanie Meyer, will not be releasing Midnight Sun. This is a book she was writing from Edward, the vampire's, point of view. Those of us that have joined the world of Twilight have come to love the characters. Even though I know what happens in Twilight I wanted to read it from Edward's perspective instead of Bella. I have to say that this was my favorite book of the series. I know you may be thinking that this is such a petty thing to be sad about but when you're already feeling sad it just makes it feel worse. At least Meyer has posted the draft she wrote on her website. It's unfinished and full of flaws, as she says, but I'm eager to read it. The weird thing is that I was just on her site yesterday so she must have added this later. As it turns out someone put her draft on the internet and now she doesn't want to finish it. I can understand and I admire her because I know she truly loves her characters and isn't in it for the money. So another saddening event to add to my life.

The Image I Was Dreading

This is an image I didnt' want to see. I am deeply saddened. Nothing can make me feel better, not for a long time.

Yay! Argentina Wins the Bronze Metal! Boo Hoo the Spurs are not too Happy

Just like their first game, Argentina ended up playing Lithuania. This time however, they won. If Argentina had won that first game they would have been first in group A and then played China. I'm almost positive they then would have beat Spain and gone on to play the USA for the gold medal. However I must say that I am still very proud of my man and his team. Unfortunately, Manu was not able to play in the bronze medal game. I didn't watch the game but it would have made me sad not to see Manu play. Again, I'm afraid for him and the upcoming Spurs season. This article made me teary-eyed.

I love you, Manu. Get better soon.
